0 TeliaSonera launches with Ericsson in Sweden and Norway

In the course of 2010, TeliaSonera plans to offer its customers 4G coverage in the 25 largest municipalities in Sweden and in the first 4 in Norway, including Oslo. Ericsson has been selected as sole supplier of common network and radio access UMTS LTE that is the older brother.
TeliaSonera will provide a broadband network with next-generation wireless and interactive services that require large capacity, such as the real-time web, online gaming, social media and video conferencing.
In partnership with Ericsson, TeliaSonera has already launched in Stockholm, the first and most extensive LTE network in the world. To date, Ericsson has signed deals to provide LTE commercial with four major operators, Verizon Wireless and MetroPCS in the United States, NTT DoCoMo in Japan and TeliaSonera in Sweden.
The LTE, the technology for next generation mobile communications, enables the rapid transfer of huge amounts of data efficiently and cost, optimizing the use of frequency spectrum. With a higher speed and lower latency, consumers may benefit from any services available online (real-time web, online gaming, social media and video conferencing) mode mobile and without any difficulty. In the future, LTE will meet the demand for new and advanced Internet applications.
Together with NTT DoCoMo, Ericsson has started the standardization of LTI in 2004 as part of the international 3GPP and obtained the largest number of grants certificates for the Group. Ericsson also expects to get 25% of all patents for LTE and making it the largest holder of patents in the field.
